An academic program for students 18-36 months old.
Our toddler program welcomes children between 18 and 36 months of age. In Montessori classroom environments, a larger student to guide ratio is encouraged, so as to promote independence in the students. Our classroom ratios are capped at 1:9, with a maximum classroom size of 18 students.
Full day, Monday-Friday (5 days/week)
8:30 am – 3:00 pm
Half day, Monday-Friday (5 days/week)
8:30 am – 12:00 pm
Students learn the basics of handwashing, nose blowing, and toileting, as well as how to feed themselves.
Students help with cleaning up after projects, and caring for the classroom environment, dusting, sweeping, and cleaning up after meals or snacks, as well as plant or animal care.
Students are encouraged to move freely about the classroom, walking, running, and climbing are encouraged in gym and outdoor play time.
The “pincher” grip needed for handling small objects (such as pencils, or eating utensils) is practiced and encouraged, along with art projects and and using other tools. Wrist movement activities pair with the pincher grip to build a solid foundation for writing later on in life.
Classroom guides speak extensively with students, encouraging them to use language skills whenever possible. Also, specialized materials encourage students to name objects and group them appropriately. Music activities also encourage students to develop essential skills.
Developing proper manners is stressed through grace and courtesy lessons, constantly practiced and reinforced in classroom activity.
The Montessori toddler classroom encourages your child to develop independence and confidence, while also fostering a sense of belonging and teaching essential social skills.
Our daughter had difficulty adjusting to daycare due to the toddlers being a bit restricted in movements. She would cry every day when it was time to go to daycare. After our first tour at BLM we could see the difference. The whole school, playground is new and pristine. Classrooms are not only beautiful but also huge. They even have an indoor gym area with playground equipment and soft floors. Now a school is not made by looks alone but most importantly by the quality of the staff. They always show such GENUINE care for our daughter in all our interactions. Milestones and skill mastery in motor, cognitive, language, social & emotional, self-awareness, expressive feelings, care of environment, care of self, food preparation is tracked so areas of need can be addressed individually. All of this information is accessible to parents in real time. Communication is key, not only do we get daily updates with photos of our daughter performing different tasks but the level of detail in our most recent personal email with the teacher Ms. Bella was amazing. I could go on and on but we are already seeing the results of all the hard work. Our 2 1/2 year is starting to read books out loud on her own! And she wants to help do dishes. Thank you Ms. Hannah, Ms. Lisa, Ms. Anna, Ms. Deborah, Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Susan & Ms. Grishma! Thank you BLM!!
